Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year at Riverside Virtual School! As we embark on this exciting journey together, I am filled with a profound sense of optimism and eagerness to make this academic year our best one yet. I am Principal Kristian Sorensen, and I am honored to be a part of this vibrant and dynamic learning community.

Our theme for this year is L.E.A.D - Learners, Engaged, Accountable, and Determined. These four pillars will guide our efforts to create an environment where every student in grades 7 to 12 can thrive, develop their unique abilities, and achieve academic excellence.

L - Learners:

At Riverside Virtual School, we believe that learning is a lifelong pursuit. Our goal is to foster a love for learning in each of our students, encouraging them to be curious, inquisitive, and open-minded. We will provide a diverse range of opportunities that go beyond the classroom, allowing students to explore their interests and passions while broadening their knowledge in various disciplines. Let us approach every challenge with the mindset of a learner, embracing the value of growth and embracing new ideas.

E - Engaged:

Active engagement is the key to meaningful and memorable learning experiences. Our dedicated teachers and staff will work collaboratively to create dynamic and interactive classrooms where students feel encouraged to participate, ask questions, and express their thoughts. Beyond the classroom, we will encourage extracurricular involvement, community service, and other enriching activities that will help students build strong connections with their peers and the broader community.

A - Accountable:

As students, we recognize that you are responsible for your own learning journey. Accountability is a crucial aspect of personal and academic growth. Our school community will work together to support and challenge you to take ownership of your education. We will set high standards, celebrate achievements, and learn from setbacks, all while maintaining a strong sense of responsibility towards self, each other, and the community we belong to.

D - Determined:

Determination is the driving force behind success. We know that the path to achievement is not always smooth, but with determination, we can overcome obstacles and reach new heights. At RVS, we will encourage a growth mindset that embraces challenges as opportunities for growth. Together, we will foster resilience and perseverance in the face of challenges, empowering students to face the future with courage and determination.

Parents and guardians, your active involvement in your child's education is invaluable. We encourage you to partner with us throughout the year, as we work hand in hand to nurture the potential of every student.

The staff and faculty of RVS has earned my deepest gratitude for their dedication and passion. The commitment to our student's success is what makes our school community exceptional.
